Saul Bass
Saul Bass played a huge part in making what the design profession is today. Bass was a pioneer in the film title industry, famous for many timeless logos, and created several movie posters. Along with creating book about his life and achievements, I was tasked to create a design that encapsulated his work and style. I based the artwork off his movie poster for The Exodus, a Jewish western. Being Jewish himself, I saw this as an opportunity to tie in his ethnic background to the piece. I replaced the original rising fists with other movie poster graphics he created. The films represented are: The Man with the Golden Arm, Saint Joan, Anatomy of a murder, Nine Hours to Rama, and In Harm’s Way.
